LEARN MORE ABOUT VSLAB+®

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES offers a full line of VSL Bonded Slab Post-Tensioning Systems that use up to five strands contained in flat-shaped ducts and anchorages. Strands are stressed and gripped by wedge action. After stressing, the ducts are filled with cement grout that fully bonds the strands to the surrounding concrete.

Bonded Slab Post-Tensioning Systems offer several practical benefits compared to unbonded systems:

  • Flexibility: Design advantages include increased span lengths, thin slabs, and improved load-carrying capacities.
  • Durability: Strands are protected by the grout, duct, and surrounding concrete. Bonded slabs also allow designers to significantly reduce the use of conventional steel reinforcement, particularly at the top of the slab.
  • Adaptable: Bonded systems also offer more flexibility regarding structural modifications such as openings for stairwells, utility access, and future expansion. If a tendon needs to be cut, the loss of tendon force would be localized. The remainder of the tendon would retain its force at the development length away from the failure point and would remain functional.

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, a Structural Group company, is the exclusive designer and manufacturer of VSL post-tensioning and construction systems in the United States.

Product Support

Because each project presents a unique opportunity, VSL teams with contractors, owners and engineers to evaluate projects and determine optimal solutions. VSL’s engineers have extensive training in structural design and are active members of technical organizations such as the Post- Tensioning Institute (PTI) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

Engineering & Design Support

Engineering & Design SupportBecause each project presents a unique opportunity, STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES teams with contractors, owners, and engineers to evaluate projects and determine optimal solutions. Our engineers have extensive experience in structural design and are active members of technical organizations such as the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), the American Segmental Bridge Institute (ASBI) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

Our comprehensive range of design support services includes:

  • Feasibility studies and cost estimates
  • Preliminary designs
  • System and material selection
  • Detailing
  • Installation and quality control plan development

Manufacturing & Material Supply

Post-Tensioning ManufacturingSchedule is critical to the success of your projects. STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES works diligently to manufacture and deliver our products on time. All of our manufacturing facilities in the United States are certified by the Post-Tensioning Institute’s (PTI) Plant Certification Program to ensure the highest quality fabrication of materials and equipment. Dedicated project coordinators and project managers work closely with contractors and engineers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of material, equipment and services.

Project Coordination

Project CoordinationFor post-tensioning projects, STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES utilizes our proprietary PT Builder software that allows digital recognition of post-tensioning drawings and automatically generates tendon schedules – showing identification tags, quantities, lengths, color codes and tendon elongations. PT Builder also generates detailed schedules detailing the heights and quantities of the chair supports. Shop fabrication orders are automatically generated and fed directly to computerized strand cutting lines resulting in superior accuracy and efficient installation.

Installation Support

Post-Tensioning Installation SupportSTRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES’ highly trained field leadership provides expertise in all areas of post-tensioning installation services. For critical activies such as stressing and grouting, our technicians are certified by the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) and the American Segmental Bridge Institute (ASBI). Our staff is available to provide on-site training and supervision or to install systems. Available equipment is expertly maintained and calibrated by skilled mechanics prior to jobsite delivery.

For bonded systems, STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES provides expert support in all aspects of installation, including grouting – a critical component for durability. To read more about grouting, see the VSL Technical Report, Grouting of PT Tendons.
