VSL furnished and installed a bonded post-tensioning system for the Legacy Parkway Pedestrian Bridge just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. VSL supplied its ECI 6-19 system for the construction of this cast-in-place, single cell box girder bridge. The bridge has an overall length of 803 feet with post-tensioning running continuously over seven piers without intermediate stressing anchorages. The design of the bridge is dramatic as it starts parallel to the Legacy Parkway before turning 90 degrees two consecutive times and finishes parallel to the adjacent side of the parkway. VSL performed the strand installation by the push-through method, finishing the post-tensioning installation ahead of schedule. In total, 8 each of the ECI 6-19 anchorages were used along with 3,210 feet of 4-inch galvanized duct; 51,600 feet of 0.6-inch strand and 208 cubic feet of prepackaged grout. The pedestrian bridge is just one of many structures to be constructed in close quarters with the Legacy Nature Preserve.
