U.S. 90 Bridge
Biloxi, Mississippi

VSL supplied and installed the post-tensioning for the US 90 Bridge across Biloxi Bay from Biloxi, Mississippi to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, which involved 44 tendons, 650 feet long, utilizing VSL's ECI 6-19 system. The use of post-tensioning in the design of the bridge allowed longer spans, thereby permitting vehicular traffic to pass over uninterrupted water traffic. VSL's work was located at the main (navigation) span of the bridge in the middle of the bay and was approximately 100 feet above the water. VSL crews accessed the support barges below the main span via crew boats. The work platforms on top of the piers were accessed via cranes and manbaskets.

The original bridge, along with other key portions of the US 90 Highway, washed away on August 29, 2005 during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. As one of the South's most traveled scenic highways, the rebuilding of US 90 Bridge is a key factor in restoring the economic vitality of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
